HISTORYIchika Kimura comes from the KIMURA clan, who in the beginning worked under the Kuchiki's before they worked under the ONMITSUKIDO ,
Ichika when she had just been born, was thrown out by her mother into the rukongai district. Being in the care of an older women and her father never knowing what happened to his first born.While in the Rukongai district, she lived in hanging dog, Ichika had made a name for herself, unintentionally as she fought to survive. One day, Ichika had met a girl about the same age as she, who did not run away or have any fear for the young spider's threats. The other girls name was Hisana. Ichika became the others friend and helped her fight to survive in the hanging dog.Once Ichika was old enough, she had joined the Shinigami academy, where early into her education she would meet Byakuya Kuchiki who visited the academy with his family. The two clashed heads consistently, both of them having a short temper and trying to do better than the other. The two of them were friends and rivals.One night Ichika had been trying to sneak Hisana into her dorm, her plan working for the most part until a very familiar face had caught them, Byakuya Kuchiki. Ichika was about to strike him before Hisana had stopped her completely. Byakuya saw Hisana, deciding to make this the three's secret. For a few months , they kept up with their secret meetings, going on walks in the midst of the night and such.
Soon after, Ichika had been caught by one of the teachers. Her punishment was severe as Ichika was going to be kicked out of the academy. That was until the Kuchiki clan stepped in, Byakuya had spoken to his father about what happened and how he knew the two. Once Sojun met Ichika, he came to the realization of whose daughter she was. Taking it upon himself, convincing Ginrei to take Kimura in as a retainer. However, Ichika said she wouldn't comply unless Hisana could come with her. Ultimately making the deal and began to learn under them.
As the three grew, Ichika and Byakuya had been trained under Yoruichi Shihion. Ichika especially to be trained to take down any assassins that would threaten Byakuya thanks to Yoruichi.
Right before Ichika would become a Shinigami, she would learn the truth of her last name from Sojun Kuchiki. Sojun would tell her about what had happened with her parents, and her family. Enraged by what she heard, confronting her "mother" and meeting her younger brother.Soon after this incident, she and Byakuya would become Shinigami together. Ichika joining squad five under Aizen Sosuke , and Byakuya in squad six with his grandfather. The two however were not separated often, as she went on missions with Byakuya to protect him due to her job of being a retainer coming first. The two known for being grand shinigami and ruthless on the battlefield together.
As they were still young shinigami, they had watched Sojun Kuchiki die in battle in front of them. Neither able to do anything and experiencing immense grief. Soon after Byakuya had become Lieutenant. And not even a few years after, Byakuya had become Captain of Squad Six. When Byakuya had become captain, she had worked extremely hard to catch up to him and achieved Bankai in secret, feeling like she was lacking because of his improvements.During that time, Ichika had noticed her two friends spending more and more time with one another. Noticing how the other looked at one another with such gentleness. Ichika who had already fallen in love with someone in squad five in the past, encouraged Byakuya to make a move. Telling him " It should not matter if she is a noble or not, you love her! Do not let her slip away!" Soon after a few years of marriage, Ichika was their best women and did whatever she could to help the both of them. Especially when it came to slander of the two.As Hisana had suddenly became ill, Ichika had taken a lot more time off of her Shinigami duties, per Byakuya's request as he was deeply worried for his wife's health and wanted someone he trusted by her side.
Hisana had passed away in her and Byakuya's arms. Only for about a year longer, she had found out about Rukia's where abouts, going to see for herself and then reporting it to Byakuya almost immediately. After such, Ichika broke off her retainer-ship from the Kuchiki Family. Focusing on her work in Squad 5, as Byakuya and her's relationship became strained due to miscommunications and arguments.In her time in squad 5, she had rose to fourth seat after Gin and Byakuya both attained captaincy, a women of strength and also renowned teaching skills for the younger recruits and members.
Only one had ever truly caught her eye, Abarai Renji. He heard and even once saw her when she use to work for the Kuchiki Clan. Ichika had made the decision after a conversation to take him underneath her wing. Teaching him how to fight with his hands and his sword. Finding his dream ambitious but something she wanted to help him achieve, especially since she could not be there for Rukia now.
Before Rukia had been sentenced to execution she had been promoted to the Third Seat of Squad Six not by her own choice.HEAVY SPOILERS FOR BLEACH AHEAD.During the Soul Society arc, Ichika had avoided any direct confrontation with the Ryoka. Mostly trying to do research on why Rukia was in so much danger. Sosuke Aizen, her old captain tried to make her believe it was Byakuya who was up to killing Rukia, never believing what her former Captain said. During this incident of chaos, Kimura confronted Byakuya getting into a one sided shouting match, leading to the point of her assaulting him.
During Rukias execution, she had been there watching with the fellow captains and lieutenants. Ichika in secret had helped Shunsui and Ukitake with their plan to help save Rukia, only doing a minor part of helping them get into contact with Yoruichi. Once Rukia had been in Renji's arms, she followed after him, trying to back him up from the other lieutenants attacking him, not noticing Ichigo had taken care of it.
Soon splitting up from him, she had gotten into a fight with her brother Kiyoshi, who heard word she became traitor. The younger Kimura was no match for her, sensing after the fight Byakuya had been defeated by Ichigo Kurosaki. Heading towards the hill where he was, to use this chance to reconnect. They had not gotten far, when Aizen had been announced as a traitor, and sensed Rukia's reiatsu, with what little energy they had, the two of them flash stepped to go and save her. After Byakuya had been injured, Ichika lunged forward to attack Gin. The injuries she held however making her passout, only to wake up after Aizen had left. Taking the chance with Byakuya to tell Rukia the truth about her sister.
Once the she had healed from her injuries, visiting Byakuya in Squad Four and regaining her title as retainer.
The two had began to fix their bond after everything had settled down and once Aizen had been defeated. Taking this time after to train herself not only with her friends, but also to learn once more from Yoruichi and Sui-Feng about Shunko during the seventeen months of peace.
During the war against the Quincys, Ichika led her men by herself against someone from her past. The specific Quincy who had given her the scar across her back. Only to barely survive the fight with her "false" Bankai but not able to defeat the man. Running away from the battle the second, she sensed Byakuya in danger. Once arriving to his location, the last thing she saw was his injured body against a wall and blade shattering. Reaching her weak hand up and grabbing a part of his broken blade and never letting it go. Her body passing out from exhaustion and injuries.Before the second battle started, Ichika had disappeared to train by herself. Unable to perfect her Shunko however, she was able to finally use her true bankai. The second half of the war begun, she had appeared back into the fray and leading squad six as Renji and Byakuya were still missing. Defeating the Quincy known as Takashi Ito with her bankai, poisoning and trapping the man to his brutal death. The fight finishing and going on her way to find Byakuya and Rukia as Ichika finally sensed them. Reuniting with the two after As Nodt's defeat, her appearance still changed by her use of Bankai from earlier.
Before heading to the royal palace, Aizens appearance put fear into Ichika. Being held back by Renji from doing anything reckless. Unable to accept the fact so easily they had to work with him now.Upon entering the Royal Palace, Ichika had joined in the fight against Gerard Valkyrie. Protecting her captain until she was knocked flat out.
Once the war had been finished, moving up a seat to Co-Lieutenant and teaching at the academy on the side.
